Therapist of the Month – Emily Haynes

Every month, Advanced Physical Therapy recognizes a therapist for their outstanding performance. Emily Haynes is honored for this month.

This month, we are celebrating therapist Emily Hayes for her positive and patient-focused attitude.

Emily leads a busy life with her husband, Tim. Together, they have a 2-year-old foster son and a 15-month-old daughter.

“We are in the process of adopting our foster son and can’t wait for him to legally have our last name,” she says.

The Hayes’ have also been joined by international students. They have hosted 5 students over the last four years. She says there is never a dull moment at their house.

“I love being active with my kids, taking walks, hiking, playing volleyball, running and traveling abroad,” she says. “I also teach a preteen Sunday school class and preteen youth group.”

When it comes to her career, Emily says she wasn’t sure where her path led to after college.

“I knew I wanted to work in an industry that helps and serves other people,” she says.

After tearing her ACL in high school and having reconstructive surgery, she received physical therapy. She says she had an awesome experience and reflected on this when she was deciding her career path. Emily received her undergraduate degree from Baker University and went to the University of Kansas for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

Emily says her favorite part of being a physical therapist is seeing the smile on her patient’s face when they have met their goals.

“It’s priceless,” she says. “Knowing that I helped them overcome their deficits and return to normal activities is very fulfilling.”

Emily is a board certified lymphedema therapist, Astym certified and has her level 2 certification in dry needling.
