The Quick Reference Guide for Pelvic Floor with Dr. Sarah White-Hamilton, PT, DPT

So…you have pain in your down below. You know, your nether region.
Well, now that we’ve gotten through the awkward bit of addressing the area of your pain, let’s talk about how we can help you relieve it!

For the Ladies:
If you have pain with using tampons and/or intercourse, you are NOT alone! There can be multiple causes for this pain. Here are some things PT can help with:
– Tight pelvic floor muscles and/or fascia (Most common, your pelvic floor PT will assess this)
– Scar Tissue: from birth trauma, sexual trauma, endometriosis, etc.
If you have pain when you urinate, when you need to urinate, or in the area of your bladder we can treat that!
– We will look at what you are drinking and eating first
– Then we will look at if you have tightness in your pelvic floor muscles, hips, and or low back
If you have pain when you defecate, we treat that “two”. (Get it? Number two? I know, I am hilarious.)
– We will assess what you are drinking and eating first
– Then we will look at if you have tightness in your pelvic floor muscles, hips, and/or low back
For the Gents:
If you have pain in your “junk” or between your “business” and your buttocks we can help.
– First, get checked out by your primary care physician, just in case
– Second, come see us
While most common among cyclists, compression of nerves in this area can also happen to just about anyone.

The above are just the most common conditions we see. Please call 866-412-5554 to learn more or to schedule your evaluation.
