Melissa grew up locally in Mulvane, KS. She developed a strong passion for dance at a young age that carried on through high school where she served as dance team captain for three years and continues to integrate dance in her life. While dancing for the high school team and later working at a women’s fitness facility, she realized the connection of helping others to improve their physical fitness and mobility. Melissa graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Dance in 2011. In order to continue her education and fulfill her desire to help others as a medical professional, she quickly discovered and pursued the career field of physical therapy.
Melissa graduated from Wichita State as a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2014 and has been working in the outpatient setting, where her passion lies, ever since. She utilizes a hands-on approach that is individualized to the needs of each patient, so that each person is assured they are receiving the best possible care. She evaluates and works to improve pain modulation, functional mobility, quality of life, and of course, building a personal rapport with each patient. Melissa takes pride in her openness, expressing her continuous growth as a physical therapist and person, both obtained through direct patient interaction as well as continuing education courses. She enjoys the relationships built and communication with other medical professionals, ensuring optimal care for each patient.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, dance, and spending time with her husband, Joshua, and their two Boston Terriers, Penny and Lola.
