As a child, Amy grew up playing many sports but decided to pursue basketball in high school. Freshman year she suffered an ACL tear in her right knee and completed nine months of PT. Almost a year later, she sustained a left ACL tear and repeated another round of PT. With the motivation and positive influence of her physical therapists, she was able to return to basketball for her junior and senior seasons. It was after her second round of PT that she realized that PT was the right career for her. Helping individuals achieve their goals has proven to be very rewarding for her. Witnessing athletes return to their prior level of competition or watching an individual demonstrate the ability to complete rigorous activities is very gratifying. Amy states that she loves having the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, even if the reward is small.
