An Andover, KS native, Carmen earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2018 from Wichita State University, after earning a BA in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish, also from WSU. Her passion for physical therapy grew out of her frequent flyer visits as a long-time patient in her early adolescent years the to early twenties for recurrent shoulder injuries and surgeries.

While in school, Carmen’s academic interests focused on pain science, chronic pain conditions, and treatment approaches. As someone who’s experienced chronic pain for several years, it’s of particular interest to her, and she feels she can empathize on a more personal level with her patient’s experiencing a similar situation.

Carmen has experienced and enjoyed working with a diverse patient population of all ages and abilities in a variety of settings, from outpatient sports clinics to neurorehabilitation hospitals. She strongly values the provider-patient relationship and firmly believes in involving the patient in their therapy to improve their quality of life best and achieve their individualized rehabilitation goals. Even though she recently graduated, she still enjoys keeping up with the latest research and evidence-based interventions to ensure her patients are receiving the highest quality care.

While not treating patients, Carmen enjoys spending time outside and traveling with her partner Marcas, playing tennis, Netflix binging and spending time with friends and family.
