Women’s Health
At Advanced PT we will help you end the suffering from your unanswered pains due to PMS and other gynecological ailments.
Pregnancy
There are many changes that can occur during pregnancy. Joint hypermobility, changes in posture, weakness, and swelling can all cause pain. Prolonged labor, caesarean sections, and large episiotomies can also cause issues. All these conditions can be treated by a Women’s Health Physical Therapist.
Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
The pelvic floor consists of muscles which form a sling from the pubic bone to the tail bone. Like all the muscles of the body, pelvic floor muscles can weaken or spasm. They can be injured from surgery, prolonged or complicated labor, or from other trauma.
Due to the close proximity and functions of the pelvic floor muscles, bladder symptoms are usually present. These symptoms often interfere with your daily life and can be painful or embarrassing to deal with.
Pelvic floor rehabilitation is the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction by a physical therapist who specializes in women’s health physical therapy.
During your first visit, your therapist will speak to you about your symptoms. A full evaluation will be performed by observing muscle strength and endurance, intact sensation and myofascial trigger points. This could include both internal and external evaluations. Your treatment may consist of behavior modification activities, exercises, and/or pain management techniques based on your symptoms and the results of your evaluation.
